The club was initially demoted to Europe's third-tier competition by UEFA's Club Financial Control Body due to a case involving multiple club ownerships. John Textor, a majority owner of Lyon, was also involved in this ownership structure.
However, Textor has since sold his 43% stake in Crystal Palace to Woody Johnson, the owner of the New York Jets, in a deal worth over £190 million.
A closed-door hearing for the case of Crystal Palace vs UEFA is scheduled to take place on August 8th. The verdict is expected to be announced on August 11th.
If the appeal is rejected, Nottingham Forest, who finished seventh in the Premier League last season, will take Crystal Palace's spot in the Europa Conference League.
