Slot stated, "I am happy with the team, the quality we have, and convinced by the strategy and policy we have. However, when three or four players are injured, we go back to 15 or 16, and it's tough to keep them fit." He also acknowledged that the team's schedule, with three games in eight days, is a challenge.
When asked about striker Alexander Isak, who joined the team in September, Slot said, "Alex came to us in September, and it has been harder to keep them fit. If a few aren't available, it comes to the same players. Maybe last season we were lucky, and now unlucky?"
Slot emphasized that the team needs to manage their situation, focusing on the upcoming match against Villa. He stated, "We have to manage the situation, three games in seven or eight days. So, nothing to do with squad depth, more just injuries and availability of players."
Regarding his own growth as a manager, Slot said, "Maybe learning comes later, mainly focused on how I can change and evaluate the decisions made afterwards. My focus isn't looking back but how can we get a good performance on Saturday."
Slot also discussed the team's defending, stating that they need to improve in this area. He acknowledged that their defending has fallen short, particularly against set pieces. He said, "It gets more important in every Premier League game, never helpful ending with a set piece versus United conceding and concede another one from a throw-in straight away."
Slot also addressed the team's struggles against direct football, admitting that opposition managers are perfecting a way to target Liverpool's defense. He stated, "They are really good at that, Chelsea played their own game against us and we didn't win that one either."
When asked about Villa's upcoming match, Slot said, "If you don't win at the beginning, people say it's not the same team, and you win and then it's positive again. With us, it's the opposite. Most are around the same points apart from Arsenal, so it says the Premier League is tough."
Slot also addressed contract talks, stating that his focus is on getting the team back to winning ways. He said, "This is the last question that I was expecting. My focus is completely on getting Liverpool back to winning ways. That is my first answer, and my second answer, contract talks, if they are even there, we never speak about this here."
