Wolfsburg has confirmed the news, but has not provided a specific timeline for Maehle's return to play.

Maehle has been a regular player for Wolfsburg this season and has also played for the Danish national team, appearing in three out of four World Cup qualifiers this autumn.

The national team has upcoming matches in mid-November against Belarus and Scotland.

VfL Wolfsburg is experiencing a difficult period, having won just one of their last nine matches and being eliminated from the cup tournament after a 1-0 loss to Holstein-Kiel.
