Villas-Boas spoke at the funeral, where he revealed that the club had been working with agent Jorge Mendes to bring Jota back to Porto. Unfortunately, this won't be possible, as Jota had planned to return to the club in 2026-27.

AVB also mentioned that he had informed Jota about the plan at his wedding, and that it was a dream for all Porto fans. He praised Jota's contributions to the club, both on and off the pitch, and said that he will be remembered fondly.

As for Jota's status with the club, Villas-Boas said that he is now considered a member of FC Porto. The club also symbolically returned André Silva's membership fees to his family.
