The club spent £50m to sign Nico from Porto in January, and there were recent rumors about him potentially leaving.
However, it appears that City is counting on Nico to be a part of manager Pep Guardiola's plans for next season.
Nico is expected to return to the Etihad Campus at the end of July to start preseason training and work towards full fitness.
Despite the recovery of Rodri and the arrivals of new players like Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reinders, Guardiola still sees Nico as a valuable option in the midfield.
