Speaking at the funeral, Villas-Boas expressed that the club had been working with agent Jorge Mendes to bring Jota back to FC Porto in 2026-27. The plan was discussed and even conveyed to Jota at his wedding, which was a dream for many Porto fans.
AVB also praised Jota's dedication and character, highlighting that he was a silent hero who was loved by everyone at the club. Jota was a partner of FC Porto's Esports team, and his contributions will be remembered fondly, just like his brother.
Furthermore, Villas-Boas announced that Jota would be considered a member of the club, effective immediately. In a symbolic gesture, the club will return André Silva's membership fees to his family and leave the membership cards at the funeral as a sign of respect.
AVB extended his condolences to Jota's teammates from various clubs, including Liverpool, Wolverhampton, and Penafiel, who also lost a close friend in the tragic accident.
