Pedri had trialled with Real Madrid's youth team while playing for Las Palmas, but his time there was short-lived as he was sent home after less than a week.
Fast forward a year, and Pedri was signing forms with Barcelona, where he has since become a key player.
In an interview, Pedri recalled the experience of being rejected by Real Madrid, saying: "The test in Valdebebas was strange; they told me I didn't show the level they wanted and I was sent home."
Pedri also spoke about his time at Barcelona, admitting that he struggled to cope with the media attention in his early years.
"Many things were said about me that were lies, that I went out a lot and that's why I got injured... These are things that hurt," he said.
Pedri emphasized the importance of respecting people's privacy and not spreading false information, saying: "Anyone can say anything and people believe it; It makes me angry because they are lies. With work then mouths shut...".
