Speaking at their funeral, Villas-Boas expressed his sadness and shared that the club had been working with agent Jorge Mendes to bring Jota back to FC Porto in 2026-27. The president had even conveyed this message to Jota personally at his wedding, making it a dream shared by many Porto fans.
AVB also took a moment to pay tribute to Jota and his brother, highlighting their love and appreciation for the two brothers, not just as footballers but also as people. He remembered Jota as a "silent hero" who was a partner to the club's Esports team and someone who will be fondly remembered.
Regarding the club's membership, Villas-Boas noted that, although Jota wasn't a member, the club would like to consider him one posthumously. Additionally, the club symbolically returned André Silva's membership fees to his family and intended to leave the two membership cards as a gesture of respect.
AVB extended his condolences to Jota's teammates from Liverpool, Wolverhampton, and other clubs, acknowledging the tragedy and its impact on everyone involved.
