Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank admitted that Bournemouth deserved their 1-0 win over his team on Saturday. The Cherries won thanks to Evanilson's early goal in London.
Frank reflected on the match, saying, "We didn't perform well today. We played against a very good Bournemouth team that knows how to make it difficult for any team in the league. They played to their strengths and did it very well."
"We trained for what they would bring, but we didn't handle it well enough. We struggled with the balls in behind, second balls, and duels in the middle of the park. That's the defensive side, and on the offensive side, we struggled to find good solutions to get through the first two phases and put pressure on them," Frank explained.
Frank also acknowledged the disappointment of his team's performance, saying, "I think it was fair that Bournemouth won. We only put on good pressure in the last 15 minutes, which could have led to an equalizer."
At halftime and the final whistle, the home support booed the Spurs players, something Frank hopes will be rare this season. He said, "I prefer them not to boo, but I understand. We didn't play well, and they have high expectations, which is fair."
Frank praised his team's effort, saying, "I think if we had performed even better and still lost, I don't think we would have reached our top level. The players gave everything, and that's the foundation. We put our hearts out there, but football-wise, we didn't hit our top level today."
