Inzaghi, ever the humble coach, had nothing but praise for his players. “These are nights you won’t forget,” he said. “We had to play two fantastic games and we did just that. It was incredible.”
He admits the new Champions League format, with two extra games, has been tougher. “But we’ve got great men here,” he insisted.
Asked what his secret is, Inzaghi was quick to credit his team. “The boys were fantastic tonight. Correa, Zielinski, Dumfries, they all played like they were on the bench with us.”
He added, “They all help each other. They know they’re all useful to the cause and they’re ready.”
Inzaghi believes clarity was key. “We were clear-headed in the difficult moment. After Mkhitaryan’s injury, we could have lost focus, but we didn’t. We stayed on track and stuck to our game plan.”
